Johnny Warren

Funeral services for Johnny Ray Warren will be 2 pm Thursday, June 26, at Fellowship of Believers Church in Hobbs, N.M. Burial will follow at Jal Cooper Cemetery in Jal, N.M.

Visitation is noon-8 p.m. today at Chapel of Hope Funeral Home with the family greeting friends from 6-7:30 p.m.

Mr. Warren was born Aug. 7, 1936, in Gorman, Texas, to Brooks Warren and Mary Dayle Reed Warren. He died June 24, 2008, in Hobbs, N.M., at his residence following a long battle with cancer.

He married Kaye Breeding on June 15, 1978, in Midland, Texas. They moved to Hobbs in 1979.

Mr. Warren graduated from DeLeon High School in 1953 at the age of 16. He went to work for Phillips Petroleum in Odessa in 1957, retiring in 1996. He was an avid outdoors man who loved to hunt, fish and camp with family. He was a cowboy all his life, day workshy;ing for various ranches whenever someone called on him for help. He raised American quarter horses and passed their offspring, along with his love of horses, down to family and friends.

Mr. Warren spent countless hours around DeLeon hunting squirrel, quail and fishing for crappies on Lake Proctor. One of his best stories was about the day they killed the bobcat and chopped the tree down to get it out of the tree.

He was a member of the Fellowship of Believers Church in Hobbs, N.M.

Survivors include his wife, Kaye Warren; one sister, Wanda Warren Lesley of, Lampasas, Texas; his chilshy;dren, Johnny Lee Warren and Naomi of Jal, N.M., Ann Williams and Shon of Hobbs, N.M., Don Warren and Sherry of Gardendale, Texas, Laurie Bowling and Tommy of Odessa, Texas, Greg Skiles and Bethany of Eunice, N.M., Malissa Sisk and Joel of Hobbs, N.M., Debra Iker and Charlie of Hobbs, N.M., Chad Warren and Brittany of Hobbs, N.M.; and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was blessed with many grandchildren and greatshy;grandchildten, too many to count.

He was preceded in death by his parents and two grandshy;daughters, Mary and Martha Warren.
