Johnie Earl Ragsdal was born on November 24th of 1944 to Johnie and Lula Bridgett Ragsdal in Lubbock Texas. Johnie Earl passed away in Lubbock Texas at Covenant Medical Center on May 21st of 2022 at the age of 77.
Johnie was blessed with a large and loving family. He married his best friend and the love of his life Essie Ragsdal on May 30th of 1964, in Seminole Texas. They resided in Lamesa Texas until later in the move to Hobbs, New Mexico. Johnie helped Essie raise his four children with patience, discipline, and humility. Johnie was a devoted husband and father.
After moving to Hobbs in 1969, Johnie began to work for Lasco Construction and later owned Lasco beginning in 2005. Johnie participated in the Boys and Girls Club for many years, where he mentored and coached both basketball and football. Johnie coached and mentored so many young men from Lea County, in Little League and Senior League Baseball. He was also a lifelong member of the Hobbs Bass Club. Johnie later retired from Lasco Construction in 2014. Johnie and Essie moved to Blackwell Texas shortly after his retirement and then moved to San Angelo Texas until 2018 before returning to Hobbs.
Johnie is survived by wife, Essie Ragsdal of Hobbs. A brother, Jackie Ragsdal of Kentucky. His sons Barry and wife Tina Ragsdal of Midland, John and wife Nikki Ragsdal of Hobbs. One daughter Natalie and husband Randy Gladden of Hobbs, NM. 15 Grandchildren: Jeffrey Stanfield, Zac Ragsdal, Ashley Mennenga, Tabitha Garza, Alexa Ragsdal, Casey Ragsdal, Eric Phillips, Reba Ragsdal, Massina Ragsdal, Kyle Ragsdal, Amber Jones, Casie Reza, Katelin Maybrey, Katlynn Montanez and Mckenzie Atkinson. Johnie and Essie were blessed with 27 great grandchildren, Kaydan and Brodie Stanfield, Miley Ragsdal, Jordan, Audrey, Carter, Michael Mennenga; Caden and Jaxon Garza; AJ and Adriana Sims; Atticus, Titus, Ahria Phillips; Heath Sawyer, Randy Bonds, Harley Ragsdal, Hunter and Anny King; Braxton, Broc and Brantley Manney; Jaxon Reza, Jordan Ragsdal, Luke Jones and Waylon Montanez.
He was preceded by his parents Johnie and Lula Bridgett Ragsdal and son Robbie Ragsdal.
