John Derek Taylor

John Derek Taylor, 32, of Hobbs, passed away on February 2, 2015. Better known by his middle name Derek, who was born to Johnny and Brenda Taylor of Hobbs on March 12, 1982.
Derek touched the lives of everyone he ever came in touch with. There was never a dull moment when he was around. He gave 100[%] at everything he did. He was part of the graduating Class of 2000 from Hobbs High where he played soccer and baseball. He served in the United States Marine Corp for 6 years.United States Marine Corp, 2nd MAW, 2nd LAAD, Bravo Battery, 2nd Platoon, for 6 years.Derek's Marine life was his second family, he spoke very highly of men and women he served with and kept them close to his heart. He was employed at Dufrane Construction as a Superintendent. He loved to hunt. Derek was the Uncle everyone wanted to have. He was such a big kid at heart and his nephews and niece loved him dearly for all the great memories he made with them. He made his parents and sister very proud of the young man he grew to become and all the things he had accomplished in his life in such a short period of time. Derek was born to be a family man from the very beginning. He married his lovely wife Debbie on May 22, 2013, and one of the best things he ever did in his life. With that marriage he gained two children, Kyle and Amber, whom he adored so whole-heartedly and seen them as his own. Derek is gone but never forgotten and his memory will continue live on through all the people's lives he has touched.
Derek is survived by his parents Johnny and Brenda Taylor of Hobbs; his sister Carla Taylor of San Antonio, TX; his wife Debbie Taylor and step-son Kyle Ragsdal and step-daughter Amber Ragsdal all of Hobbs; his mother and father in law Donna and Cletus Stinnett of Hobbs; his brother and sister in-laws Harold and Cindy Stinnett of Hobbs and Cletus and Julie Stinnett of Alpine; his nephew Tarin Dominguez and niece Aniya Joseph of San Antonio, TX; nephews Austin and Cameron Stinnett of Alpine; nephew Tyler Stinnett of Lubbock; and nephew Chase Stinnett of Hobbs. He is also survived by his paternal grandmother Jimmy Taylor of Lovington; and by many aunts, uncles, cousins, friends, colleagues, and Corp buddies.
Funeral arrangements are being made by Chapel of Hope in Hobbs. Visitation will be held Thursday February 5, 2015 from 6:00 pm to 7:30 pm. The funeral will be held at 10:00 am on Friday, February 6, 2015 at Taylor Memorial Baptist Church, located at 1700 E. Yeso; burial will follow at Memorial Gardens.
