Funeral services for 97 year old John L. Red Perry will be Friday, June 4, 2010, at 3:00 p.m., at Chapel of Hope Funeral Home with Minister Clay Martin officiating. Interment will follow at Prairie Haven Cemetery. Visitation will be Friday, June 4, 2010, from 8:00 a.m. until 3:00 p.m. at Chapel of Hope.
Mr. Perry died at his residence in Hobbs on June 2, 2010. He was born on October 15, 1912 in Palo Pinto, Texas. He came to Eunice, New Mexico in the early 30s. At that time, he worked for the Younger Brothers as the yard manager. Red was a dirt contractor and had been employed with Allstate, New Mex and Merryman Construction Companies. He was a very loving husband, father and grandfather. He had been a very active member of Jefferson Street Church of Christ.
Red is survived by his wife Dorothy Perry of Hobbs, two daughters Louise Weatherford of Graham, Texas, and Barbara Ainsworth of Levelland, Texas, and eight grandchildren Johnny Ainsworth of Odessa, Texas, Dale Ainsworth of Dublin, Texas, Mike Ainsworth of Roswell, New Mexico, Cathi Maberry of Jal, New Mexico, Warren Parker of The Colony, Texas, Joe Dan Parker of Italy, Texas, Lari Dawn Stroud of Tampa, Florida, and Steven Weatherford of Houston, Texas. He had numerous great and greatgreat grandchildren.
Red was preceded in death by his parents, a stepson Sanford Parker, and a brother and sister.
