Graveside services for John Edward Mockaitis, Sr., of Fort Worth, Texas, will be 2 p.m. Friday, February 26, 2010, at Memory Gardens.
Mockaitis, 90, died February 3, 2010, in Fort Worth, Texas. He was born May 22, 1919, in Shenandoah, Pennsylvania. He married Mary Kondon Mockaitis on November 29, 1944, in Lubbock, Texas. She died February 16, 1991.
John served in the U.S. Army Air Force during World War II. He moved to Hobbs in 1956 and lived there until 2007, moving to Fort Worth to be near family.
John worked as an automotive mechanic before changing his occupation to truck driver in 1960. He delivered oilfield equipment throughout the oilfields of New Mexico and West Texas until he retired in 1984. John was a member of the American Legion in Hobbs.
He was a member of St.Helena Catholic Church of Hobbs.
Survivors include sons John E. Mockaitis, Jr. and wife Gail of Fort Worth, son Donald Mockaitis of San Angelo, Texas sister Helen White and husband Casey of Brandonville, Pennsylvania brother Joseph Mockaitis and wife Eleanor of Harrisburg, Pennsylvania five grandchildren and eight greatgrandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his father and mother, Adolph and Elsie Mockaitis, Sr sister Jean Laszusky and brother A.J. Mockaitis, Jr.
