Funeral services for John A. Killian Jr. of Hobbs, N.M., are 2 p.m. Monday, June 11, 2007, at Chapel of Hope Funeral Home. Steve Lord, Star Hospice Chaplain, will officishy;ate. Burial will follow at Prairie Haven Memorial Park.
Mr. Killian, 79, died June 8, 2008, at his home in Hobbs, N.M. He was born Aug. 21, 1921, in Makins, Texas. He married Virginia Stephenson Killian on Jan. 31, 1951, in Shreveport, La.
John was raised in Holliday, Texas. He served in the 45th Infantry Division during the Korean War. He retired in 1992 after working for Warren Petroleum for 45 12 years. He enjoyed working with Little League, golfing and working with wood in his workshop. His greatest interests were his grandsons, great-grandchilshy;dren and watching sports. He was a 50-year member of Iowa Park Masonic Lodge No. 713 and a member of the American Legion of Hobbs, N.M.
Survivors include his wife, Virginia Killian of the home; his daughters, Karen Cummings and husband Billy of Hobbs, N.M., and Sherry and husband Dr. David Waagner of Lubbock, Texas; his grandsons, Chris McCall and wife Kelli of Hobbs, N.M., Jason Cummings of Hobbs, N.M., and Mark Waagner of Lubbock, Texas; a grandshy;daughter Megan Waagner of Lubbock, Texas; a greatshy;grandson, Hunter McCall of Hobbs, N.M.; and a greatshy;granddaughter, Hailey McCall of Hobbs, N.M.
John was preceded in death by his parents, John and Carmon Killian.
