John Franklin Daricek, a proud veteran of the U.S. Army, passed away on September 13, 2024, at Covenant Medical Center in Lubbock, Texas. He was surrounded by his loving family and friends. The son of O. J. (Bully) and Virda Daricek, John Franklin Daricek grew up in Hobbs, New Mexico. He was born November 15, 1939, in Hobbs, New Mexico. After high school, in January of 1963, John enlisted in the U. S. Army and served his country proudly until January of 1969.
After he served in the military, John worked for Moranco Drilling in Hobbs, New Mexico and Kaiser Aluminum in California. He was a member of the NRA, VFW, Moose Lodge, and Elks Lodge in Carlsbad, New Mexico. He loved to dance, go fishing and hunting, and have fun with his kids and family. John had a very tender heart. He would have given the shirt off his back to anyone in need.
He is preceded in death by his parents, O. J. (Bully) and Virda Daricek, one son Jimmy Daricek, and two grandchildren. He is survived by his sister, Doris Naylor of Hobbs, New Mexico, a brother, Bennie Daricek & wife Pat of San Angelo, Texas, a son, John F. Daricek Jr. of Red Bluff, California, and two daughters, Rebecca and Lynda Daricek of Red Bluff, California. John's surviving grandchildren are Ian Daricek Sr., Jessie Daricek, Amanda Walsh, Riley Daricek, and Jacob Daricek from California. His surviving great-grandchildren are Ian Daricek Jr., Zayden Daricek, Maggie Daricek, Rae Daricek, Bryce, Carter, Zola Walsh, Ryler and Scout also from California, and numerous nephews and nieces, great-nephews and nieces, and great-great-nephews and nieces.
The family of John Franklin Daricek would like to say a very special Thank You to all the Covenant Medical Center Staff located in the ER, CICU, and Palliative Center Units in Lubbock, Texas for taking such awesome care of our loved one.
Reverends Bruce Kirby and John Ayers will be officiating the funeral service.
