John Byerly

Memorial services for John Paul Byerly, 74, of Hobbs, will be 3:00 p.m. January 7, 2012, at Prairie Haven Memorial Park Chapel with Chaplain Elio Barrios officiating. John died December 15, 2012, at his home in Hobbs. He was born April 5, 1938, in Marengo, Indiana, to Paul and Olive Byerly. On September 18, 1963, he married Gladys O. Phillips in Danville, KY. She passed from this life April 15, 1997. Molly Chacon was his companion for the last 16 years of his life.

John spent 11 years serving his country in the Navy. He moved to Texas in 1982 and to Hobbs in 1995. By trade, he worked in construction. He enjoyed watching car racing and spent a lot of time with his children teaching them about life and making them work hard. He had 9 kids who loved and adored him.

Surviving John are 2 sons, Robert Byerly, and wife Mary, of San Angelo, TX, and Billy Byerly, and wife Donna, of West Tawakoni, TX 6 daughters, Jane Debbrecht, and husband Ray, of San Angelo, Phoebe Gardner of West Tawakoni, TX, Debby Berry of San Angelo, Nancy Chacon of San Angelo, Ashley Byerly of Odessa, TX, and Andrea Byerly of San Angelo brother Stanley Byerly of NH sisters, Anita Easter of IN and Rita Nickolson of KY 14 grandchildren, 24 greatgrandchildren and 3 greatgreatgrandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.

Preceding him in death was a son, Donnie Byerly and 2 sisters.
