Joe Bates

Joe Ray Bates, 56, was born October 30, 1957 in Hobbs, New Mexico to Fred and Ruby Bates. Joe passed away January 26, 2014 in Hobbs.

Mr. Bates had a huge heart, which he used in serving others. He loved his family very much. Joe was involved with his childrens activities, especially his son Parkers animals at FFA and 4H. Joe worked at Lovington Good Samaritan for twenty years and seven months. He also worked at WalMart for sixteen years. In school Joe played football. Ever since then Joe enjoyed watching football games on TV.

Mr. Bates is survived by his wife Cheri, son Parker, and daughter Stormi, all of Hobbs sister Nona Gish of Lubbock and stepmother Susie Bates of Oklahoma. He was preceded in death by his parents brother Danny Burgi son Caleb and daughter Josie.

Visitation will be 1:30 to 5:00 pm, Sunday, Feb 2, 2014 at Chapel of Hope, and again Monday morning, Feb 3, 2014 from 8:00 a.m. to service time. Funeral services are scheduled for 10:00 a.m., Monday, February 3, 2014 at Chapel of Hope, with Pastor Ty Bean officiating. Interment will follow at Lovington Cemetery, 600 Gum Street.
