Joann Thomas

Funeral services for JoAnn Thomas will be 2:00 p.m. Thursday, September 15, 2011,at Scharbauer Street Church of Christ. Interment will be after services at Prairie Haven Memorial Park. Visitation will be Wednesday, September 14, 2011, 10 a.m. 8 p.m.at Chapel of Hope which is in charge of arrangements. JoAnn died September 8, 2011, in Lubbock, TX. She was born September 6, 1948, in St. Augustine, TX, to Robert and Eula Mae Brooks.

JoAnn graduated from Hobbs High School. She worked for J. C. Penneys for over 20 years and retired with them. In her younger life, JoAnn served as a song leader for junior choir in a Baptist church. She was her husbands caregiver for 11 years until his death. She enjoyed soap operas and computers, but her family was the greatest joy in her life.

She is survived by her father, Robert Brooks, Sr. of California sisters, Ella Smith of Lubbock, TX, Mary Mason, and husband Robert Jitter, of Hobbs, and Ester Brooks of Houston, TX brother, Robert Brooks, Jr., and wife Connie, of Deerpark, TX uncle and aunt, Robert and Ella Turner of Hobbs numerous aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews special friend Jimmy Marshall of Hobbs friends, Sue Petties and Mamie Lewis and special sisterinlaw, Rene.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Ernest in August of 2008 and her mother, Ella Mae Brooks.
