Joan Robbins

November 30, 1929 — May 8, 2020

Hobbs

Joan (Jo Ann) Robbins, 90, of Hobbs, NM went to her heavenly home on Friday, May 8, 2020 at her residence surrounded by her family.  She died of natural causes secondary to heart and lung diseases. She was born in Borger, TX on November 30, 1929 to the late Virginia (Mabry) and Thomas Davison.

Joan is survived by her daughter, Donna J. Fletcher and husband Clarence of Hobbs, NM; sons Michael T. Robbins and wife Debbie of Tomball, TX; Jerry B. Robbins and wife Melissa of Saginaw, TX; Paul D. Robbins and wife Frankie of Willis, TX; one sister Imogene Lange who is 97 of Sherman Oaks, CA; 13 grandchildren; 22 great grandchildren; and 5 great-great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her husband, Don R. Robbins, parents Virginia and Thomas Davison, sisters Jessie Burke and Mabel Brown; brothers Eugene Davison, Hughie Davison, Tommy Davison, Clyde Davison, and Kenneth Davison; niece Sherry Brown and nephew Clyde Davison, III.

Joan married Don Ray (Cotton) Robbins on April 25, 1951 in Hobbs, NM. Joan worked in several business fields in her lifetime including switchboard telephone operator, bank teller, the business office at Lea Regional Hospital in Hobbs, NM and was the head of the admissions office at Midland Memorial Hospital in Midland, TX for 13 years where she was recognized in the Midland Daily News for her outstanding work ethic and organization skills.  Joan had many interests in life, but she considered her card ministry with her church to be the greatest gift God gave her. Many people who were sick, lonely, and sad or just needed a word of encouragement received a card from her even if they did not know her. Joan accepted Jesus into her heart on October 5, 1969 at Taylor Memorial Baptist Church where she was a member for many years until moving her letter to Temple Baptist Church, Hobbs, NM on March 14, 1998 where she remained a member until her heavenly ascent.  Joan was a beacon of light for Jesus to everyone she met, and she was a dedicated prayer warrior for all.  Joan was a beloved mother, grandmother (Mamaw), great-grandmother (Gigi), and great-great grandmother.

To comply with CDC guidelines friends are asked to remain in their cars to support the family with their presence.

In lieu of flowers, Joan requests donations be made to the American Lung or Cancer Associations.
