Jimmy Gerald Ward, 74, of Hobbs, NM, passed away on Saturday, May 2, 2015 following a prolonged illness in Lubbock, TX.
Jimmy was born on September 26, 1940 in Clinton, AK to CZ and Ethel Ward. He worked as a Pulling Unit Operator for 45 years until he retired in 2001. He had 6 daughters with his ex-wife, Reida Fay Dodson. He was a devoted father, caring grandfather, and always full of laughter and humor. He loved tinkering with woodwork and was an excellent handyman, was an advocate for animal protection, and loved the great outdoors.
He was preceded in death by his parents, CZ and Ethel Ward, step-mother Dortha Ward, brother Roy Gene Ward, brother Bobby Joe Ward, brother Gary Joe Ward, and two grandsons.
He is survived by his daughter Cheryl Wheeler of Witchita, KS, daughter Carol Jeter and her husband Tommy of Stanton, TX, daughter Jimmie LaTraille Anderson and her husband Kenny of Enid, OK, daughter Connie Ward of Hobbs, NM, daughter Sonja Richards of Farmington, NM, daughter Teresa Greenway and her husband Bill of Odessa, TX, brother Coy Junior Ward and his wife Joann of Jal, NM, brother Zilmer Ward and his wife Marlene of Roswell, NM, sister Betty Ruth Emerson of Mesquite, TX, 15 grandchildren and 26 great grandchildren.
He will be greatly missed, but always in our hearts.
