Funeral services for Jimmy R. Hill, 79, of Hobbs, will be Thursday, January 26, 2012, 10:00 a.m. at Chapel of Hope with Pastor Dean Shropshire officiating. Visitation will be Wednesday, January 25 at Chapel of Hope 8 a.m. 6 p.m. with the family being in attendance from 4:30 p.m. 6:00 p.m. and Thursday, 8 a.m. until service time.
Jimmy died at his home January 20, 2012. He was born June 2, 1932, in Rising Star, TX, to Normei and Lula Hill. He married Barbara Wood May 24, 1998, in Cloudcroft, NM. Jimmy attended school in Jal, NM. He enjoyed the mountains, playing cards and never tired of collecting knives and eagles. He also enjoyed the fellowship of hunting with his friends, skeet shooting at 74, he beat Larry during a competition and loved his children and grandchildren. Jimmy was a business man and was known as one of the best pipeline welders in Lea County. His favorite pastime was flying. He flew his own plane for more than thirty years.
Surviving Jimmy is his wife, Barbara of Hobbs daughter, Petty Segars, and husband Dennis of AZ granddaughters, Lisa Shafer, and husband Scott, and Crystal DuPont, and husband Lewis, both of AZ stepsons, Jeff Komar, and wife Karen, of TX, Bubba Wood, and wife Jana, of Hobbs, Lanny Wood, and wife Sandy, of Hobbs, and Jimmy Short, and wife Jennifer, of Houston stepdaughter, Sherry Fariello, and husband Dr. Arnold, of VA sister, Billie Jo Maples of Hobbs and numerous grandchildren and greatgrandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents son, Jimmy Wayne Hill brothers, Normei, Jr. and Kenneth Hill sisters, Frances Fleming, Louise Harris and Nellie Jack Brock and his first wife, Joan Hill.
