A funeral service for Jerry L. Myrick, 72, of Hobbs will be 2 p.m. Friday, January 7, 2011, at First Church of the Nazarene, 2900 N. Fowler, in Hobbs.
Pastor Ken Yocom will officiate. Burial will follow at Memory Gardens. Services are under the direction of Chapel of Hope Funeral Home.
Visitation will be Friday from 8 a.m. noon at Chapel of Hope.
Myrick died January 5, 2011, at Odessa Medical Center. He was born August 11, 1938, in San Antonio, Texas. He married Mary Helene Clary on May 25, 1960, in Truth or Consequences, NM.
He graduated from NMMI in Roswell, NM, and attended ENMU in Portales. He served in the U.S. Army in the intelligence division. Jerry enjoyed traveling. His best friend and companion was Buddy, a Chinese pug. Jerry was a member of First Church of the Nazarene where he served as a Sunday School teacher and board member.
Survivors include his wife Mary Myrick of Hobbs son Jerry D. Myrick of Hobbs two daughters, Darla K. Myrick of Hobbs and Debbie D. Myrick of Eunice three grandchildren, Amanda Myrick of Hobbs and Chelsie and Joshua Elliott of Hobbs seven greatgrandchildren, Trevor and Shea Myrick of Hobbs, Justice and Bradley Guthrie of Texas, Raelynn Myrick of Hobbs, Dylon Smith of Hobbs and Christopher Hicks of Hobbs.
He was preceded in death by his parents Robert Leon and Marjorie Mae Myrick grandparents N. E. and Luella Myrick and Robert and Ramona Stevenson brother Robert Leon Myrick, Jr. and grandson Brad Lee Myrick.
