Matt Williamson was born on June 9, 1959 to the late Tommy and Margie (Fowler) Williamson in Lubbock, Texas. Matt ran into the arms of the Lord on March 30, 2021.
He was welcomed into heaven by the open arms of his son Jacob Williamson, his parents Tommy and Margie Williamson, and his brother Mark Williamson.
Matt lived in Ralls and then his family moved to Pecos, Texas in 1970. Matt met his soul mate and love of his life Jody Ellison in Ralls, Texas and they were joined in marriage on October 14,1978. Together they were blessed with two amazing and God-fearing sons, Jacob and Nicholas Williamson.
Matt was a man of many hobbies and talents. Matt had a love for so many, but his Lord and Savior was his first love. Matt was a servant of God. His life as a preacher was his passion. Matt served many churches preaching in Lubbock, Pecos, and his final home in Eunice, New Mexico at the First United Methodist Church. Matts love for music led him to be the praise and worship leader at the churches he served. He was a preacher armed with his bible and a guitar.
Matt also had a love of hunting, shooting, pool, and golfing. If you could not find Matt at his church, you knew you could find him on a golf course or a hunting lease.
Matt had three very special joys in his life. Those joys called him G-Pa. Everyone knew his love of his grandkids. He would light up when they walked into the room.
Matt was loved by so many. He touched the lives of everyone he met. There was never a stranger in his presence. If you needed a dollar, he would give you his last one. If you needed a meal, he fed you. A servant’s heart through and through.
Those left to cherish his memory are: His wife of 42 years, Jody Williamson of Eunice New Mexico, son Nicholas and Sharina Williamson of Odessa Texas.
Brothers: Mace Williamson, of Bryan Texas, Miles and Kristi Williamson of Katy Texas and sister-in-law Sarah Williamson of Katy, Texas.
Three grandchildren: Bradie, Joshua, and Ava Marie. As well as so many families, friends, The Greater Emmaus community, and all of his church families.
