James "Darrell" Whitley, 49, was born August 27, 1967 in Lovington, NM to J. D. and Patsy Whitley. He passed away, September 4, 2016 in Hobbs, NM.
He married Carla Whitley on July 22, 1988 in Hobbs. He was a member of Crosswinds Community Church. He enjoyed fishing, hunting and baseball. He adored his family, especially his grandson, Brennon. He was employed at Conoco/Philips-Centennial Transportation and received The Million Mile Safety Award. Darrell had also worked for the Lea County Road Department for several years and at Celero Energy as an oilfield mechanic for many years. Darrell had coached baseball and softball for over fifteen years. Darrell was always willing to give to others, even strangers. He exemplifies this by donating his body to TTUHSC for medical research.
He is survived by his wife Carla, daughter; Demi Whitley of Oklahoma City, OK, son; Dayton Whitley of Hobbs, NM, mother; Pat Spurlock of Lovington, NM, sister; Donna Silveira of Lovington, NM and grandson; Brennon Whitley of Oklahoma City, OK, as well as many beloved nieces and nephews.
