James Wheeler

James "Jim" Perry Wheeler, Jr of Hobbs, NM passed away on Friday, November 3, 2023. Jim was born on March 17, 1931, in Morrison, Oklahoma. Jim grew up in Gladewater, Texas where he met his wife of 72 years, Wanda. Jim was a proud and dutiful Marine who served his country in the Korean War. He was employed by and retired from Chevron as an electrician, was a member of The Independent Order of Oddfellows and was an avid hunter and fisherman. Jim and Wanda had three children - two sons, Butch and Tim and one daughter, Gwen. Jim is preceded in death by his sons Butch and Tim and a great-granddaughter Kassidy Buford. He is survived by daughter Gwen Singleterry and her husband Alan and daughters-in-law Beth Wheeler and Cheryl Wheeler. He leaves behind his grandchildren April and Robby Boggs, Justin Cody Wheeler, Kara Wheeler, Jennifer and Cody Buford and Anthony Singleterry as well as seven great-grandchildren - Trenaty Lewis, Juliya and Hunter Boggs, Jaiden and Eastyn Buford and Chantelle and Justin Cody Wheeler, Jr. He was a dear man who will be forever missed. In lieu of flowers the family would like contributions be made to Wounded Warriors Project in his honor.
