James W. "Taterz" Martin, loving husband, father, uncle and friend passed away on Thursday, August 8th, 2019 at the age of 45.
He was born in Kermit, TX on December 19th, 1973 to Roy and Beverly Martin. He was the youngest of four children. He grew up in Hobbs, NM and graduated from Hobbs High School. He worked for Tom’s Vending Products, Mission Foods, Little Debbie Snacks, and moved to Monahans approximately 17 years ago to work for Frito Lay, where he won several awards for being top salesman in his district.
He met the joy of his life, Cristal Reynolds and was married on May 23rd, 2009. They settled in Monahans, TX and had their beautiful daughter Haylie on June 3rd of 2010 -- the light of his life!
James was known for many passions -- for the way he loved his family and friends, his love of music, singing, working as a DJ, as well as fishing, riding motorcycles, and as a Master behind the BBQ pit!
James is preceded in death by his father, Roy Gene Martin and both sets of his grandparents.
James is survived by his wife Cristal Dawn Martin, daughter Haylie Dawn Martin; Mother Beverly Kay Martin of Hobbs, NM; brother Ralph Tramell and spouse Kristy Tramell of Mayhill, NM; sisters Karrie Bruton and spouse Bobby Bruton of Hobbs, NM and Sherrie Morris and spouse Tim Morris of Hobbs, NM, Rachel Smith and spouse Branden of College Station, TX; father-in-law Mike Reynolds of Hobbs, NM; nieces: Amanda Womack, Angela Wilson and spouse Travis, Samantha Rehm and spouse Brett, Kaymie and Hannah Smith, Hailey, April and Ashtin, nephews: Kyle and Beau Smith, Jacob Tramell, and Trey Womack; 4 great nephews and 2 great nieces; uncles, aunts, and lots of cousins.
