James Hollis

James E. "Jim" Hollis, 57, of Odessa, Texas passed away in Hobbs on Monday, April 25th 2016 surrounded by those he loved.

James was born February 9th, 1959 in Seminole, Texas to Joe and Aiko Kitty (Kohara) Hollis. In 1962, Kitty married Jack Pittman and James was grafted into the Pittman family.

He graduated from Seminole High School in 1977.

James married Cynthia Baumgarten the love of his life on January 14th, 2006 in Odessa, Texas.

He worked for Shell Oil and then opened A-1 Computers in 2001 in Odessa. He worked there until he retired due to ill health.

James had an "extraordinary soul, a big heart and an intricate powerful mind". He loved to learn and then impart that knowledge to those around him. He had many hobbies including beekeeping, hunting, gardening, chickens, and scuba diving and riding his Gold Wing. He loved being in the country and in the mountains.

In 2005, James rededicated his life to Christ, which would lead to an Emmaus Walk. This would forever change his life and prepare him to fight his final battle with faith and assurance of his final destination.

James was preceded in death by his birth father, his mother Kitty, his father Jack Pittman, sisters Corine Meyer and Nola Pittman.

He is survived by Cynthia Hollis of Odessa, Texas, stepsons Michael Baumgarten Reyes and husband Aaron of Houston, Texas, David Baumgarten and wife Marivelle of Weatherford, Texas and Axel Baumgarten of Santa Fe, New Mexico, daughter of the heart Jeannie Alexander and husband Justin of Lovington, New Mexico, brothers Joey Hollis and wife of Germany, John Hollis and wife Sandra of Kenefick, Texas, Jack Neff Pittman and wife of Arkansas, sister Christy Jones and husband Roger of Diana, Texas, sister of the heart Sharon Sturgill of Hobbs, New Mexico and a special nephew John Leslie Hollis of Odessa, Texas and a special brother Richard Adcock of Odessa, Texas. He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews, "the Cousins", and friends.
