alignjustifyFuneral services for James A. Jim Griffin of Hobbs, New Mexico, will be held 10 a.m. Thursday, June 25, 2009, at Chapel of Hope Funeral Home. Burial will follow at Prairie Haven Memorial Park.

alignjustifyVisitation is 8 a.m.-6 p.m. Wednesday and 8 a.m. until service time Thursday at Chapel of Hope.

alignjustifyArrangements are under the direction of Chapel of Hope Funeral Home.

alignjustifyMr. Griffin died June 21, 2009, at Lea Regional Medical Center. He was born July 3, 1924, in Eldorado, Texas. He married Beth Caudle Griffin December 17, 1947, in San Angelo, Texas.

alignjustifyJames served in the U.S. Navy. James and his wife, Beth, moved to Midland, Texas, in 1949, then to Hobbs in 1954. Jim was employed by Sinclair-Atlantic Richfield for 31 years and retired in 1980. Jim's passions were golf, gardening, Hobbs Eagle basketball and bragging about his grandchildren.

alignjustifySurvivors include his wife, Beth Griffin of Hobbs; a son, Jim B. Griffin and wife Barbara of Houston, Texas; a daughter, Jana May and husband Lloyd of Hobbs; six grandchildren, Brian May of Hobbs, Kamie May of Hobbs, Angie Hawkins of Great Mills, Maryland, Jay Griffin of Jacksonville, Florida, Julie Huggins of Union City, Tennessee, and Jara Walden of Auburn, Alabama; 17 great-grandchildren; a sister, Mary Virginia Bracken of Emmett, Idaho, and numerous nieces and nephews.
