James J. Chambers, 85, passed from this life August 25, 2010, in Lubbock, Texas. He was born October 31, 1924, in Las Cruces, New Mexico. Graveside services are planned at the Lovington Cemetery, Saturday, August 28, 2010, at 10:00 a.m. with Pastor Dave Rowser officiating. Visitation will be Friday, August 27, 2010, 11:00 a.m. 7 p.m. at Chapel of Hope which is in charge of arrangements.
He married Patricia Glenn December 1, 2002, in Hobbs. Jim attended St. Helenas Catholic Church.
He operated Chambers Upholstery Studio in Hobbs for twenty years. He was a lifetime member of the VFW and American Legion. Jim loved to fish, visiting with friends, loved gardening and his tomato plants and loved scratchoff tickets and casinos.
James is survived by his wife Pat of Hobbs two daughters, Jamie West of Hertford, North Carolina, and Becky Smith of Hobbs stepdaughters, Patti Ann Ancell of Lovington, Julia Bradley of Hobbs, and Anna Whelchel of Irving, Texas four stepsons two granddaughters, Mary Jernigan of Fair Hope, Alabama, and Sherrie Smith of Lubbock, Texas three greatgrandchildren and one greatgreatgrandchild.
Hwe was preceded in death by his first wife, Orene Chambers and two sisters, Lilly Lockney and Jo Dorsey.
