James "Leonard" Caffey, 86, passed from this earth on Saturday, February 10. He was born in Wellman, Texas on December 2, 1931 to Rupert and Naomi Caffey. Leonard was raised in Seminole, Texas where he met and married the love of his life, Ann Caffey, who preceded him in death on December 9, 2015. Together they spent 65 years in Hobbs, New Mexico raising four children and serving the community.
Leonard spent his working days in the Permian Basin oil fields with a short stint in Canada. From the work platform of a well service unit, Leonard worked his way up to ownership of a well plugging service. For over 50 years he was dedicated to the Masonic Lodge as a Mason and Shriner. He enjoyed his time as a Shriner clown driving funny cars in parades entertaining crowds. As a Shriner he often participated in fundraising events to raise money for children with disabilities.
Leonard is preceded in death by his parents, wife and his brother, Mitchell.
