Boatie Jacob Douglas Boatenhamer, 81, was born on May 3, 1933 in Nashville, Tennessee to Byron and Lucille Boatenhamer. He passed away May 14, 2014 in Hobbs, New Mexico.
Jacob married Wanda Shelton on November 3, 1956 in Hobbs. They enjoyed fiftyseven
happy years of marriage. They were able to enjoy retirement in Cloudcroft, New Mexico for
eighteen years.
Mr. Boatenhamer served in the Army, and was honorably discharged in 1955. He was a lifetime member of the VFW. He was proud that he received his GED after completing his time in the armed forces. He worked for over thirty years as a miner and crew leader at KerrMcGeeNew Mexico Potash Mines in Carlsbad, New Mexico.
Jacob loved Country and Western music, gardening, and playing on his computer. He had a passion for woodworking, and loved to spend time with his greatgrandson Brennan.
Mr. Boatenhamer is survived by his wife Wanda three grandsons, Steven and Melyssa Boatenhamer of Hobbs, Christopher Duke and Shelley Cox of Tacoma, Washington, and Timothy Cox of Bennett, Colorado greatgrandsons, Amand Castillo, Brennan Boatenhamer, Angel Neblett, Cruz Neblett, and Robert Christenson greatgranddaughters, Makayla Cox and Taylor Cox and great, greatgranddaughter Melayah Llarenas.
Jacob was preceded in death by his daughter Sharon Cox, and son Mike Schultz.
