alignjustifyVisitation will be from 3-8 p m. today and 8 a.m.-until service time on Wednesday at Chapel of Hope. Arrangements are under the direction of Chapel of Hope Funeral Home.
alignjustifyMr. Marcus, 80, died September 4, 2009, at his home in Hobbs. He was born April 29, 1929, in Lamesa Texas. He married Dot Ihle on April 29, 1953, in Scranton, Arkansas.
alignjustifyHe graduated from Seminole High School in 1948. He joined the U.S. Army in 1948 and served in Korea as a military policeman. He was employed by Amerada Hess and then worked in management at the Nighthawk Restaurant in Austin, Texas. He returned to Hobbs and worked for McVay Drilling. He retired from Hobbs Schools in 1994. He enjoyed Hobbs Eagle basketball and spending time with his grandchildren. He was a member of the Christian Center.
alignjustifySurvivors include his wife, Dot Marcus, of the home; three daughters, Donna Ferrell and husband David of Hobbs, Jacqueline Brotherton and husband Ken of Hobbs, and Tammy Lambur of Kansas City, Missouri; sister Fredda Bingham of Hobbs; three brothers, Jim Marcus of Crane, Texas, Dr. Benny Marcus of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, Bill Marcus of Mission, Texas; six grandchildren, Tim Ferrell of Kansas City, Missouri, Tiffany Ferrell of Hobbs, Jeremy Landrum of Hobbs, Misty Landrum of Hobbs, Melanie Lambur of Kansas City, Mo., Dylan Lambur of Kansas City, Mo.; and five great-grandchildren.
alignjustifyHe was preceded in death by his father, Fred Andy Marcus; his mother, Marguerite Marcus; and a brother, Carroll Marcus.
