Graveside services for J. W Hunter of Hobbs are 10 a.m. Friday; Aug. 1, 2008, at Prairie Haven Cemetery.
Arrangements are under the direction of Chapel of Hope Funeral Home.
Mr. Hunter, 73, died July 30, 2008, in Hobbs. He was born May 9, 1935, in Whitesboro, Texas. He married Sue Reynolds Hunter on Oct. 17, 1983, in Las Vegas, Nevada.
Mr. Hunter was a self-made businessman. He owned Hunters Body Shop and Mr. J's Boats.
Survivors include his wife, Sue Hunter of Hobbs, New Mexico; two sons, Jerry Hunter and wife Tammy of Voss, Texas, and Corey-don Hunter and wife Nicole of Hobbs, New Mexico; a daughter, Karla Smith and husband Jon of Hobbs, New Mexico; a brother, Cleo Hunter, Jr. and wife Beth of Hobbs, New Mexico; his parents, Cleo and Eloise Hunter of Hobbs, New Mexico; his mother-in-law, Mae Bingham of Hobbs, New Mexico; three grandshy;sons, Mitchell Hunter of Voss, Texas, and Jacob and James Smith, both of Hobbs, New Mexico; a granddaughter, Sue J. Smith of Hobbs, New Mexico; a great-grandshy;daughter, Karleigh Sue Smith of Hobbs, New Mexico; and special friends Ken and Scott Bromley and families, James Spurgeon and family; Glen Crenshaw, Joe Wright, Rick Schlabauch famishy;ly, Roy Don Mason, Bill Hawkins, Bill Rash, Mike Taylor, Chris Van Doren, Rick Rippy, Dink Prather, Doc Griffin, Sammy and Martha Garner, Benny Hoyl, Roger Gray and the Permian Ford group and all the gang that visshy;ited at the boat shop.
J. W was preceded in death by his first wife, Barbara Hunter, and a sister, Marilyn Boerner.
