J. D. Berry III, age 66, made his final rite of passage to be one with the Great Spirit on October 5, 2014.
He was born in Hobbs on August 30, 1948 and lived in Hobbs the majority of his life. He is the second son of the late J. D. Berry, Jr. and survived by his mother, Nora Marie Berry of Hobbs.
He served honorably in the Navy with a tour of duty in the Mediterranean.
He enjoyed sharing his many talents with his family and friends. He was an artist of all kinds, a potter, sculptor, painter and builder. He could make or fix just about anything. He was a member and featured artist at the Lea County Art Center of Hobbs.
He enjoyed all types of music, singing, karaoke, dancing and star gazing.
The ones that he touched their lives knew what a kind sweet gentle man he was.
May this talented spirit be lifted from the clouds to eternal sunshine and reunited with the love of his life Jan Berry.
Survived by his only child Shay Berry Campbell of Arvada, Colorado, his brother, Wiley Berry of Dallas, Texas, his sister, Annette Vaught, His niece, Rene Martin, His nephew, Olin Vaught, Jr., all of Hobbs.
The celebration of Life will be held at the Chapel of Hope, Hobbs, NM at 4:00 pm, October 10, 2014.
