Funeral services for Irene Morris of Hobbs, N.M., will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday, March 20, 2008, at First United Methodist Church with Pastor Steve Chshy;appell officishy;ating. Burshy;ial will folshy;low at Memshy;ory Gardens Cemetery.
Visitation is 2-7 p.m. Wednesday with the family in attendance from 4-6 p.m. at Chapel of Hope Funeral Home.
Mrs. Morris, 94, died March 17, 2008, at Covenant Medical Center in Lubbock, Texas. She was born Sept. 5, 1913, in Temple, Okla. She married William Marcellus Morris on Nov. 4, 1935, in Oklahoma.
Irene moved to Hobbs, N.M., in 1948. She was a seamstress at Heidi's Dress Shop over 20 years. Irene was an avid Hobbs Eagles sports fan. Her church music was an important part of her life. She looked forward each year to the family reunions surrounded by her family. Irene was a very competitive game player with her family and friends. She was a member of First United Methodist Church.
Survivors include two daughshy;ters, Jackie Shelton of Hobbs, N.M., and Sharon Sagerty of Hobbs, N.M.; two sons, Tony Morris of Norman, Okla., and Larry Morris of Nederland, Texas; two grandsons, Mike Robinson of Wylie, Texas; and AHEm Robinson of Belen, N.M.; . six granddaughters, Cindy Colasanti of Vine Grove, Ky., Tracy Thompsoniof Farmington, N.M., Kimberly Portillo of Hobbs, N.M., Kathleen Seago of Midlothian, Texas, Kristi Bodle of Houston, Texas, and Amber James of Clinton, Okla.; 19 great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren.
Irene was preceded in death by her husband, William Marcellus Morris on April 27, 1975; her parents, Milard and Minnie Cummings; a brother; and five sisters.
