Ida Steinert

April 8, 1926 — September 27, 2016

Joanne was born April 8th, 1926, in Roswell, NM, to Richard and Martha Swisher. God called her home on Sept. 27th, 2016.

She graduated from Roswell High School & attended college at Valparaiso University achieving her Medical Tech degree. She married Earl Steinert on April 29th, 1950 in Roswell, NM. They had four children.

She & Earl moved to Hobbs in 1973. She worked at Norte Vista in the Lab for 22-yrs. Joanne loved spending time with her kids but especially her grandchildren. She also loved reading, being a part of the Red Hat Society, R-V-ing and the LWML ladies group at Grace Lutheran Church. She enjoyed cooking/baking and made a 'mean' salsa.

She was blessed with four granddaughters, Jessica (Patton) Olivo, Amy (Carden) Pittman, Allison (Patton) Schwartz and Leah (Carden) Zenger. She and Earl were also blessed with seventeen great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her brother, her husband, one granddaughter (Leah) and one great-granddaughter (Cathryn Hope Pittman). She is survived by her son, Mark (Carrellyn) Steinert - Hobbs, daughter, Marsha Carden - Harvest, Alabama, son, David Steinert - Las Cruces, and daughter, Susan (Jay) Patton - Hobbs, granddaughters Jessica (Daniel) Olivo, Amy (Robert) Pittman, Allison (Andrew) Schwartz and sixteen great-grandchildren.
