Hurshel Stephenson

Hurshel Lee Steve Stephenson, 73, went home to the Lord on January 16, 2013, in Odessa, TX. He was born in Olney, IL, on February 3, 1939, to H. L. and Vivian Stephenson.

Steve was preceded in death by his parents, twin sister, Darlene Boerger and brother, Kenneth Stephenson.

He is survived by five children, son Rick, and wife Cindy Holland, of Haughton, LA, son Vince, and wife Trisha Stephenson, of Lovington, NM, daughter, Carla, and husband Noel Clark, of Bernalillo, NM, son Blake, and wife Kenda Stephenson, of Odessa, TX, and daughter, Jeanne Stephenson of Provincetown, MA and nephew, Kevin, and wife Jennifer Stephenson of Anderson, TX Grandchildren, Jimmy and Max Holland, Kimberly Thomas, Jennifer Estrada, Chad Stephenson, Clay Stephenson, Jordan Kearney, Nathan Clark, Paxton Clark, Kaleb Stephenson, Joshua Stephenson two great nieces, Jessica and Jamie Stephenson and seven greatgrandchildren.

Steve enjoyed a career in banking that spanned 25 years in Alamogordo, Hobbs, Las Cruces and Santa Fe, NM, and Dumas, TX. He was a loving Dad and Grandfather and a devoted Catholic. He was a loving brother, son, caregiver and neighbor. Steve loved to cook for his family and friends. He was fun, outgoing and witty and always generous with his time, talents and resources.

Memorial services will be held at Chapel of Hope, 3321 N. Dal Paso in Hobbs NM, on Saturday, January 19, 2013, at 1:00 p.m. with Deacon Sam Navarette presiding. Interment will take place at a later date.
