A funeral service for Howard J. Spurlock of Hobbs, N.M., will be at 9:30 a.m. Tuesday, Jan. 22, 2008, at Temple Baptist Church. Pastor La Void Ford will officiate.
Burial will follow at Prairie Haven Memorial Park.
Visitation will be Sunday from 1-6 p.m. with the family in attendance from 2-4 p.m. and Monday from 8 a.m.-6 p.m. at the funeral home.
Mr. Spurlock, 84, died Jan. 18, 2008, at Lea Regional Medical Center. He was born March 22, 1923, in Shidler, Okla.
Howard served in the U.S. Army. He was a veteran of World War II having served in the 13th Armored Black Cat Division in Germany. He had lived in Hobbs, N.M., since 1937. He retired with Shell Oil Company after 35 years. He enjoyed cabinet making, wood- . working and fishing. He was a member of Temple Baptist Church where he served as a deacon.
Survivors include his wife, Seba Spurlock of Hobbs; a son, Paul Spurlock of Baton Rouge, La.; a daughter, Kathaleen J. Dooley and husband James of Hobbs, N.M.; a sister, Edith Angelo of Salida, Colo.; and a granddaughter, Lindsay Spurlock of Baton Rouge, La.
Howard was preceded in death by his first wife, Janis Marion Spurlock; his parents, Hardin Howard and Lizzie Jane Spurlock; and two brothshy;ers, Clyde and Walter Spurlock.
