alignjustifyFuneral services for Horace Hegwood of Hobbs, New Mexico, will be 10 a.m. Saturday, June 13, 2009, at Chapel of Hope Funeral Home with Pastor Scott Shiffer, grandson of Horace, officiating. Burial will follow at Prairie Haven Memorial Park.

alignjustifyMr. Hegwood, 88, died June 9, 2009, at Lea Regional Medical Center. He was born August 5, 1920, in New Boston, Texas. He married Nellove Hegwood, who died in 1998.
alignjustifyHorace served in the U.S. Army during World War II. He was involved in the campaigns for France, Germany, Philippines and the occupation of Japan after the war. He worked in the oilfield as a drilling consultant after the service. Horace enjoyed gardening and was an avid golfer. He was a member of Taylor Memorial Baptist Church.
alignjustifySurvivors include two daughters, Janet Isham and husband Roger of Kirtland, New Mexico, and Patty Hegwood Shiffer and husband James of Whitmore Lake, Michigan; three grandchildren, Scott Shiffer and wife Lindsy of Cedar Hill, Texas, Lacy Shiffer McKee of Odessa, Texas, and Myca Isham of Farmington, New Mexico; and his great-grandchildren, Brylee Isham of Farmington, NM, Payge and Hunter McKee of Odessa, Texas, and Maren Shiffer of Cedar Hill, Texas.
