Henry Red Stephens, 85, of Monument died Monday, Oct. 16, in Lubbock at Covenant Medical Center. He was born Nov. 1, 1920, in Bradford, Tenn.
Mr. Stephens married Dorothy Lea Suggs on Feb. 7, 1947, in Clinton, Ark. He was a Marine and served during World War II. He was a deacon and treasurer for Monument Baptist Church for many years. He was employed by Warren Petroleum for 35 years. He loved to fish, but he especially loved his family. He was a member of Monument Baptist Church.
Survivors include his wife, Dorothy Stephens, of Monument; three sons, Jerry Allan Stephens of Hobbs, Carl Douglas Stephens of Eunice and Virgil Wayne Stephens of Monument; one daughter, Beverly Ann Long of Monument; one sister, Esselee Pinegar of Portersville, Calif.; seven grandchildren, Jennifer Gay Pixley, Kimberley Diane Tramell, Tory James Stephens, Samantha Lea Stephens and Henry Tell Stephens; step grandchildren, Bobby Bentle and Steven Bentle and eight great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a son, Tommy E. Stephens; six brothers; and one sister.
