Helen Wilson

Helen Katherine Wilson was born on December 4th, 1917 to John (Janez) Spreitzer and Katherine Spreitzer in Calumet, MI. She is preceded in death by her parents, one sister; Mary Spreitzer, brothers; Edward Spreitzer (Dorothy), Jakop (Paul) Spreitzer (Helen), and John Spreitzer (Jean), her husband; James G. Wilson and her son, Andrew Vargo (Linda).

She is survived by her son; James Wilson (Ellen) and one daughter; Barbara Greenwood (Alan), grandchildren; Elizabeth (Denis) Kraning, Brad Vargo (Marcy), Brandon Greenwood (Lavada), John Wilson, Alex Wilson and Eric Wilson.

She married James Gracie Wilson and they had three children: Andrew Vargo, James F. Wilson and Barbara Greenwood.

Helen graduated from Calumet High School and graduated with her RN from St. Mary's Nursing School in LaSalle, IL. She then attained her bachelor's degree later from College of the Southwest. She practiced nursing in many places; including; Calumet, Michigan, San Bernardino, CA, and Jerome, AZ before settling in Hobbs. In Hobbs, she served as a surgical supervisor at Lea Regional Hospital. A highlight of her career was flying on Air Force One when Lyndon Johnson's secretary's father was involved in a car crash in Eunice, NM. She was chosen to accompany him to a hospital in Texas for care. She worked at the Health Department and what was then Norte Vista.

She was a longtime member of St. Helena's Catholic Church. Helen was also involved with multiple civic organizations; The Archeological Society, Llano Estacado Art Association, The Garden Club, Oil Wives and others.

Honorary pall bears are: Alan Greenwood, James F. Wilson, Brad Vargo, Denis Kraning, Brandon Greenwood, John Wilson, Alex Wilson, Eric Wilson, Daniel Herman, Kenny Schmidt, Dale Hayes, Terry O'Brian, Lucy King, Tommy Emmons, Michael Stewart and Olin Rapp.
