Helen Downey

Graveside services for Helen A. Downey, 53, of Alamogordo, NM, will be held Friday, December 17, 2010, at 1:30 p.m. at Prairie Haven Memorial Park Cemetery, Hobbs, NM, with Pastor Dean Shropshire of Choose Life Church officiating. Helen passed away in her home in Alamogordo, NM, on November 14, 2010. She was born September 21, 1953, in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, to Joseph and Juanita Downey.

Helen was a lawyer in the state of New Mexico for fifteen years, specializing in family law. She attended UNM in Albuquerque, NM, and graduated in May of 1994. She will be missed greatly and will be remembered as a strong, intelligent woman that loved people. She enjoyed volunteering for the Salvation Army. As a mother and Nana, Helen, sincerely loved her children and grandchildren.

She is survived by her parents, Joseph and Juanita Downey, of Alamogordo, New Mexico, two sisters, Diane Lenhoff and husband James of Houston, TX, Carol Shockley and husband Dan of Atlanta, GA three children, daughter Lisa Lowery and husband Everett of Albuquerque, NM, a son, John Quintana and girlfriend Monica Villescas of Houston, TX, and daughter, Juanita Jenny Flowers and husband Jesse of Hobbs, NM and four grandchildren, Alex, Brayden, Logan, and Mia.
