Helen Baker

Helen Baker, lovingly known as Granny, 86, of Hobbs, went to be with the Lord on December 6, 2010, at her home. Granny was born March 1, 1924, in Stephens City, Oklahoma, to William and Melba Wallace Wells. She married Howard Click in 1938, which union produced the light and joy of her life, Doris Anita Click McDonald.

In her younger years, Helen was very active socially and enjoyed bowling, dancing and spending time with her family and many friends. Helen worked for several years at Don Clark Furniture she retired from Abbott Brothers after 22 years of faithful service. Grannys favorite time of the year was Christmas, and for many years her beautifully and elaborately decorated yard drew the attention of the neightborhood and even the Hobbs NewsSun. Granny spent her latter years living next door to her beloved daughter Doris and her soninlaw, Dale. She loved her dog, Precious, working in her yard and collecting dolls and dollhouses which were spread throughout her home. During her last days and weeks, Granny was faithfully attended by her daughter and her beloved granddaughter, Kay.

Granny is survived by her daughter, Doris and husband Dale of Hobbs grandchildren, Mike McDonald of Hobbs, Kay McDonald of Hobbs, and Randall McDonald and wife Rene of Midland, Texas greatgrandchildren, James McDonald and wife Beth Anne of Fredricksburg, Texas, Jennifer McDonald and boyfriend Chris Humphries of Hobbs, Parker McDonald of Cullman, Alabama, Michael McDonald II of Odessa, Texas, and Morgan McDonald of Midland, Texas greatgreatgrandchildren Amber McDonald, Haily Hornsby and Karla Hornsby of Hobbs and Kate, Natalie and David McDonald of Fredericksburg, Texas.

A memorial service for Helen will be conducted at 2:00 p.m. Friday, December 10, 2010, at Chapel of Hope in Hobbs, with grandson, Rev. Randall McDonald officiating. Interment is immediately following at Prairie Haven Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will be Thursday, December 9, 2010, at Chapel of Hope from noon 5 p.m. and Friday, 8 a.m. until service time.
