Harvey (Harve) White, 88, beloved Husband and Father, was called to his eternal resting place on January 24, 2021. He entered this world on July 19, 1932 in Dalhart, TX, the only son of 9 children born to Van and Lena White.
Harve was a veteran, serving in the United States Air Force in 1952 stationed at Sheppard Air Force Base. In his early years, he was a working cowboy on the LS and The Matador ranches in Texas. On June 2, 1955, he married Sue Garcia at St. Anthony’s Catholic Church in Dalhart, TX. They made their way to West Texas while he worked in the oilfield, eventually settling in Hobbs in 1960. After leaving the oilfield he owned and operated a small roustabout business and then moved on to own and operate a successful commercial herbicide service company, from which he retired in 2014. Harve was a skilled saddle maker and leather worker. Not one that could sit idle, he opened Harvey’s Saddle Shop after his retirement so that he could focus on the skill that he loved and re-connect with his cowboy heritage. He enjoyed teaching his great-grands how to stamp leather. He also loved old time country and bluegrass music. In his free time he would often sit around and play his guitar and banjo.
Harvey was preceded in death by his parents and 8 sisters. He is survived by his wife Sue White, son Doug White and wife Gail, daughter Sheila Cyr and husband Steve, grandchildren Kristi Corder, Jennifer Wilson, Michael Cyr, Kassandra Balest, Ryan White, Chris Jackson, Justin Jackson, and 25 great-grandchildren.
