Harold Ward

Harold Ward, 74, was born September 10, 1939, in Mangum, Oklahoma to Woody and Fern Ward. Mr. Ward passed away April 5, 2014 in Hobbs, New Mexico.

Mr. Ward served in the United States Army for three years, two of them spend in Germany. Harold served from September 24, 1957 to July 7, 1960. On February 12, 1959 he earned his GED from the United States Armed Forces Institute. On June 30, 1962 Harold Ward married Sarah Dale Thurman in Lubbock, Texas. They moved to Hobbs in 1970. He was employed at Lance, Inc, Schlumberger, and for the Hobbs Schools Warehouse. Mr. Ward joined Taylor Memorial Baptist Church in 1977. He taught 3rd grade Sunday school there for ten years.

Mr. Ward is survived by his wife Sarah Dale of Hobbs daughter Rhonda Miller and husband Joe, of Lubbock, Texas daughter Sandra Toller and husband Wes, of Odessa, Texas son Harold Lee Ward of Hobbs sister Ruth Johnson and husband Seth of Lawton, Oklahoma three grandchildren three nieces two nephews and special friends Rhonda and Bryan Ussery of Hobbs.

Harold was preceded in death by his parents one brother a baby daughter and one grandson.

Visitation will be from 8am to 7pm, Tuesday, April 8, 2014 at Chapel of Hope Funeral Home, with family greeting friends from 46pm. Services are scheduled for 2pm, Wednesday, April 9, 2014 at Taylor Memorial Baptist Church, officiated by Pastor Andrew Hebert. Interment will follow at Prairie Haven Memorial Park, Hobbs, New Mexico.
