A memorial service for Guy H . Kennedy of Hobbs, New Mexico, will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, November 5, 2008, at Taylor Street Church of Christ with Minister Mike Kennedy officiating.

Cremation will take place. Arrangements are under the direction of Chapel of Hope Funshy;eral Home.

Mr. Kennshy;edy; 90, died November 1, 2008, at Hobbs Heashy;lth Care Censhy;ter. He was born August 9, 1918, in Groesbeck, Texas. He married Betty Brawley December 30, 1940, in Hobbs, New Mexico.

Guy served in the Civil Conservation Corps before serving in the U.S. Navy durshy;ing World War II. He was granted many medals, some of which are the Good Conduct Medal with one star, Asiatic Pacific Medal with seven stars and a World War II Victory Medal. He served on the USS Portland, Idaho and Yarnall. Guy retired from Marathon Oil Co. after 37 years. He enjoyed yard work, reading, woodworking and especially traveling in his RV.

Guy was a longtime member of Taylor Street Church of Christ and attended faithfully until health issues prevented his attendance.

Survivors include his wife, Betty Kennedy of Hobbs, New Mexico; two sons, Robert Holton Kennedy of San Diego, California, and Benny P. Kennedy of Bryan, Texas; three grandshy;daughters, Erin, Lanie and Jennifer Kennedy; and two grandsons, Grant Kennedy of Bryan, Texas, and Neil Kennedy and wife Jori of Bryan, Texas.

Guy was preceded in death by his parents, three sisters, a brother and a brother-in-law, Glen Brawley.
