Gregory (Greg) Joe Eidson

February 24, 1958 - December 20, 2021

Greg was born February 24, 1958, in Hobbs, New Mexico to Ronald and Shirley Eidson, alongside his twin brother Gary Eidson. He passed away on Monday, December 20, 2021, surrounded by his loving family.

Greg graduated from Hobbs High School in 1976. He then attended New Mexico State University where he studied Civil Engineering and belonged to Phi Kappa Tau fraternity, followed by Texas Tech University where he studied Electrical Engineering. After college, Greg moved to Midland to join his father and brother at John West Surveying, where he worked as a surveyor. From there he relocated into the Hobbs office, as Vice President of Technology. Greg had a computational gift and was instrumental in leading the company into the digital age, building cutting-edge company computers with CAD Drafting Technology, imperative for their drafting needs, which they still use today. This year, Greg celebrated his 43rd anniversary at John West.

From fishing and hunting throughout New Mexico and Texas, to playing in Alto Lake’s annual Snowcapper Golf Tournament with his dad and brother, the peaceful outdoors were Greg’s happy place. And while he had little use for too much socializing, he maintained an unabashed enthusiasm for classic rock and live music. Greg attended more concerts than the Stones themselves, ultimately sparking up a good friendship with Leon Wilkeson, the bassist of Lynyrd Skynyrd, embarking on a sold-out summer tour with the band.

Greg loved his Heavenly Father and lived his life in devotion and faith to God.

The family will receive friends and loved ones for a visitation and life celebration at Chapel of Hope on Wednesday, December 29, 2021, at 11am. Greg will be laid to rest in the Memorial Prayer Garden at First Christian Church of Ruidoso, New Mexico, alongside his sister Lisa.

Greg is survived by his parents Ronald and Shirley Eidson, his twin brother Gary Eidson and sister-in-law Jane; his brother-in-law Gary Neuman, his nieces McCall Eidson and Kelsey Neuman, and nephews Garret Neuman and Spencer Eidson; and a world of loving relatives and friends. Greg is preceded in death by his sister Lisa Eidson Neuman.

If desired, the family asks that memorial contributions be made to the National Kidney Foundation. https://www.kidney.org/donation.
