Glenn Burnam

Maurice Glenn Burnam G.G., 91, died peacefully at home in Hobbs, NM on August 19, 2013 with his wife and granddaughter by his side.
Glenn was born on January 29, 1922 to Mark Ollie Burnam on his familys farm in Putnam, TX. He loved being raised and working on the farm which provided many wonderful memories that he shared until the day he died. He received his college education at John Tarleton College HardinSimmons University. He paid his way through college by singing in a gospel quartet and working the night shift at a commercial laundry facility. During WWII, he served in the Army Air Corps as a pilot instructor flying the AT6 Texan. Upon honorable discharge in 1944, he owned and operated his own farm in Putnam, TX for nine years. He married the love of his life, Juakana Elizabeth Youngblood, in 1946 and they had three sons Maurice Kimball, Roger Clarke, and Kevin Pate. The family left the farm for Abilene, TX and then made Hobbs their home in 1958. Glenn was the president coowner of Clarke Oilwell Servicing, Inc., for many years before he sold the company and retired in 1992. Among his accomplishments and interests, he served as former President of Hobbs Chamber of Commerce, President of AOSC, President of NM Oil Gas Assocation, was a member of the Hobbs Rotary Club.

Glenn truly enjoyed life and we are profoundly honored to have been a part of his. He was a true gentleman, with a heart of gold, the sweetest soul. He will be forever in our hearts, thoughts, and missed beyond measure.

He is survived by his wife love of 67 years, Juakana Kana Elizabeth Youngblood Burnam granddaughter Kana Maurice BurnamMcPeters husband Kenny McPeters of San Diego, CA grandson Kollin Kim Burnam of San Diego, CA great grandsons Karter Maurice Burnam Koltin Burnam of San Diego, CA son Kevin Burnam of Hobbs, NM sisters Retha Brown of Wetherford, TX, Gayle Isenhower of Putnam, TX brotherinlaw H.L. Youngblood of Grandbury, TX nieces, nephews, friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents Mark Ollie Burnam, sister Mary Alice Everette, sons Col. Maurice Kim Burnam Roger Clarke Burnam, daughterinlaw Karyl Burnam.

Graveside services will be held on Friday, September 6 at 4:00PM at Prairie Haven Memorial Park. Arrangements by Chapel of Hope.

The family gives special thanks to Kenny McPeters, Delia Saenz, Sandra Raoul McPeters, Dr. Lenard Wagner, Norma Chanley, Heidi Bartons family, Gentiva Hospice for your loving care support when we needed it the most.
