Gladys Childers

Gladys Jewel Vaughn Childers went to be with our LORD on July 14, 2011. Gladys was born September 3, 1914, to Elmer and Eva Dale of Clarksville, Texas. She had four brothers, Duward Dale, Joe Dale, Oval Dale and Randall Dale and three sisters, Lorene Long, Bobby King and Billie Peters.

She was a loving wife and mother. Gladys married John Henry Vaughn in 1935 and they had nine children Dorothy Crawford, Ann Presley and husband Gene, Betty Lemons, Joe Vaughn and wife Joe Dell, Carol De Paw, Bob Vaughn, Nancy Mitchell, Larry Vaughn and Ricky Vaughn. Gladys was blessed with numerous grand children, greatgrandchildren and greatgreatgrandchildren.

Gladys is remembered as the ER nurse at the old Lea Regional hospital. She was active for many years at the Senior Citizens Center and in the Kitchen Band. She enjoyed devotionals and Bible study. She was a woman of great character and wonderful wit. She was loved by all who knew her.

Arrangements are with Chapel of Hope Funeral Home.

There will be a celebration of Gladys life on Monday, July 18, 2011, 10:00 a.m. at the Prairie Haven Memorial Park Chapel. All are invited to attend.
