Gilbert Ortega Garza, born on August 15, 1959 to Manuela and Adolph Garza in Hobbs, NM

Gilbert enjoyed being around family and friends making everyone laugh. Everybody enjoyed hearing Gilberts crazy stories and funny jokes. He was always the life of the party dancing to his own beat.

Gilbert was a self contractor and loved putting his unique touch to everything. He loved his dogs and taking care of his home and yard. He absolutely adored his grandbabies, daughter and even more his wife.
Gilbert cherished everyday to the fullest with no regrets Always willing to give his shirt off his back to anyone in need.

Gilbert married the love of his life Gloria V. Tapia on November 17, 1981 and has one daughter Theresa TapiaGarcia. After living in Dallas, Texas for several years Gilbert returned to his home town in 2007. Putting his creative touch into his grandparents house making a beautiful home for him and his wife.

Gilbert is survived by his wife Gloria TapiaGarza, father Adolph Garza,Sr., Sister Dora and Paul Garcia, brothers Anthony and Emily Garza, Patrick and Lorena Garza and Adolph Zachary Garza, daughter, Theresa and Robert Garcia, grandson Joshua Gilbert Garcia, granddaughter, Destiny Marie Garcia, Goddaughter Yvonne ZaragozaRodriquez and many nieces and nephews.

On October 06, 2014, after battling liver cancer for just a short time, Gilbert was taken away from us. He will be reunited in Heaven with his mother, Manuela O. Garza, his brother Adolph Garza, his cousins, Joe Garza and Arthur tooties Lechuga. Gilbert will be deeply missed.

Viewing will be held Thursday, October 9, 2014 from 8:00 am 7:30 pm. Funeral services will be Friday, October 10, 2014 at 10:00 am. All will be held at Chapel of Hope, 3321 N. Dal Paso, Hobbs, NM. Gathering for family and friends will be held at The Eagles Lodge from 1pm 3pm following Fridays services.
