Gerry Alexander

January 18, 1925 — August 26, 2011

Gerry Ann Alexander was welcomed into this world on January 18, 1925, by her parents, Jo Lee and Lewis Dunham in Graford, Texas. She passed peacefully in her sleep from this world on August 26, 2011, while residing at Carrilon House in Lubbock, Texas.
Gerry met Ben Alexander, her husband of 69 years, in Eunice, New Mexico, in 1941. Gerry worked along side Ben in Alexander Supermarket in Eunice until the arrival of their first child in 1953, LeeAnn, where she then devoted herself to her young family. In 1955 Gerry and Ben moved to Hobbs with the formation of their new business, D A S Oil Well Servicing, Inc. They welcomed their second child, Russell Bates Rusty on Valentines Day, 1956. Gerry fully devoted herself to her family and to supporting Ben in his many and varied business and civic endeavors. Gerry was an artist and used those talents toward her family activities, celebrations and her beloved Creede, Colorado cabin. In her later years she found great joy in the presence and activities of her grandchildren and greatgrandchildren.
She is survived by her loving, dedicated husband of 69 years, Ben Alexander her daughter and soninlaw, LeeAnn and Beach Snyder six grandchildren, Michelle, Atlee and Hillary Snyder and Kynda, Hollie and Kaelyn Alexander her nine greatgrandchildren, Cheaney, Annika, Sam, Halle, Sydnee, Paislee, Dean, Leah and baby Ben. She is also survived by her sister, Dorothy McCasland and brother, Charles Durham and nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents and her son Rusty.
Services will be held at First United Methodist Church, 200 E. Snyder at 10:00 a.m. Tuesday. Family visitation will be held at Chapel of Hope Funeral Home, 3321 N. Dal Paso, on Monday evening from 5 7 p.m.
