Georgie James

Georgie Lee James went to be with her Lord on Thursday, April 19, 2012. She was born on December 14,1919, in Hamilton, Texas to George Uri and Mary Mae Phillips. She married the love of her life, Sidney Wate James on November 7, 1937, in Breckenridge, Texas. Georgie enjoyed sewing, quilting, reading and her cats. The highlight of her days was spending time with her family. She never missed a dance recital or baseball game and loved watching the greatgrandchildren swim, dance, playing sports or having them just come over for a visit. She worked for Furrs Supermarket as a checker for many years. Because of her love for sewing, she opened her own business in 1970, Georgies Bernina Fabric Shop. After 19 years of business, she retired so she would have more time to do what she enjoyed most, sew. She began making quilts and has left her family with many heirlooms. She is a lifetime member of the Lea County Quitters Association.
She is survived by two daughters, Paullette, and husband Dan Keith of Hobbs, NM, and Shirley and husband, Ed Martin of Buda, TX nine grandchildren, Rick Keith and wife Sharon, LeAnn Whitehead and husband Wade both of Hobbs, NM, Sydney Solomon and husband Deidrick of Melissa, TX, Phil James and wife Kelly of Broomfield, CO, Todd James and wife Tracey of Loveland, CO, Kirk James and wife Janet of Erie, CO, James Martin and wife Pamela and Michael Martin both of Austin, TX and Cory Martin of Scottsdale, AZ 18 greatgrandchildren, Reegan Keith, Morgan Logan Whitehead, Audrey Hayden Solomon, Alea, Rylie Jett James, Kaiden, Kendall Kannon James and Karissa, Kyler Ryan James, Brandon Sean Martin and Chase Chance Martin.
She is preceded in death by her parents, husband, Sidney W. James and son, Philip Sidney James.
Funeral services will be 10:00 Monday, April 23, 2012, at Chapel of Hope with Pastor Jotty Kinney presiding. Visitation will be Sunday, April 22, 2012, 2 4 p.m. at Chapel of Hope.
