A funeral service for Rev. George Dennis Sanderson of Hobbs will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday, May 31, 2007, at New Life Fellowship Church, 707 Church Street, in Hobbs.
Pastor Gary Williamson will officiate. Burial will follow at Prairie Haven Memorial Park.
Visitation will be today from 1:00 -6:00 p.m. and Wednesday from 1:00 to shy;6:00 p.m. at Chapel of Hope Funeral Home, which is in charge of arrangements.
Sanderson, 58, died Saturday, May 26, 2007, at Lea Regional Medical Center. He was born Nov. 8, 1948, in Liverpool, Texas.
He married Judy Willis Sanderson on Nov. 9, 1972, in Stillwell , Okla.
Sanderson served in the U.S. military during the Vietnam War.
He moved to Hobbs in 1982. He was employed with the U.S. Postal Service. He enjoyed hunting and golf as hobbies. He loved his family and friends. The greatest love of his life was being a pastor to his church and ministering to friends and family. He helped many people in Hobbs with his compassion. He pastored Abundant Life Fellowship Church in Hobbs.
Survivors include his wife, Judy Sanderson, of the home; three sons, Terry Lee Barton of Hartshorne, Okla., Glen Clark of Alexandria, Va., and Jason Sanderson of Hobbs; four daughters, Margaret Elizabeth Blankenship of Kimball, WV., Candice Clemins of Welch, WV, JaLaun Wacker of Carrollton, Texas, and Kelly Lopez of Hobbs, two brothers, Delbert Sanderson of Hobbs and Billy Sanderson of Midland, Texas; three sisters, Dorothy Denney of Saloam Springs, Ark., Marion Callaway of Refugio, Texas, and Nancy Ross of Aztec, N.M.; and 13 grandchilshy;dren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Vernon and Margaret Sanderson.
