Geneva Reed

February 14, 1927 — August 19, 2008

Surrounded by her family, our sweet and loving sister and aunt, Geneva V. Reed, went peacefully to be with the Lord on Tuesday, August 19, 2008, at Lea Regional Medical Center after a short illness.

Geneva Valentine Reed, GeGe of Jal, New Mexico, was born February 14, 1927, to Finis and Rena Bowles in Section 30 near Gypsy, Okla. She worked hard all her life in the restaurant business in some capacshy;ity. She loved anything purple, reading mysteries, playshy;ing cards with her sisters and especially loved her family.

She was born and raised in Oklahoma and was a lifelong promoter and supporter of anything and everyone in Oklahoma. She also loved her adopted home of Jal, New Mexico, where she married Harry Reed, but as everyone who knew and loved her was aware, she was also a true Alaskan, having been a citishy;zen living there at the time statehood was granted in 1959. She loved living in Alaska and always spoke of its beautiful country and her desire to return whenever the subject came up, which not surprisshy;ingly, was quite often.

She is survived by three lovshy;ing sisters, Pat and Don Davis of Okmulgee, Oklahoma, Donna and Kenny Wilson of Okmulgee, Oklahoma, and Bernice Estep of Midland, Texas. She had five nieces and six nephews who love her dearly.

She was preceded in death by both parents; her husband, Harry Reed; two sisters, Lois Bowles and Peggy Adams; and three brothers, TC Bowles, Red Bowles and Floyd Bowles.

A graveside memorial in Jal will be announced at a later date.
