Gene Goodwin passed away July 2, 2014 in Hobbs, New Mexico. He was born January 15, 1923 in Claude, Oklahoma to Clarence and Ora Goodwin. He married the love of his life, Betty Wilson, on October 22, 1942 in Hobbs. They were married for 68 funfilled years.
Gene was a veteran of the US Air Force, serving from 194245 during World War II. His employment included working in the oilfield and farming. He then owned Goodwin Dairy for many years. Gene enjoyed riding horses and roping in his early years. He also enjoyed attending ropings, snowmobiling, hunting, having breakfast with his friends, and spending time with his family.
Gene was a devoted husband, father and Pappa. He leaves loving memories to be cherished by his daughter, Judy Pistole, of Hobbs son Jim Goodwin of Cloudcroft two granddaughters, Cyndi David Fidel of Garland, Texas, and Debbie Brian Powell of Devol, Oklahoma two grandsons, Brian Sherry Goodwin and Clay Kristi of Hobbs eleven greatgrandchildren, Taylor, Spencer,and Chandler Fidel,Luke and Conner Powell,AustinKatelynn Goodwin, Summer and and Caleb Goodwin,Collin, Tristan, and Blaklee Goodwin one greatgreat granddaughter, Payiton Goodwin. He loved all of his grandchildren and enjoyed special times with them, but greatgranddaughter Summer Rose Goodwin, was the apple of his eye.
Preceding Gene in death were his wife, parents, sister June Patterson, and soninlaw Gerald Pistole.
Visitation will be from 1:30 to 5:30 p.m. Sunday July 6, 2014 at Chapel of Hope. Funeral services for Mr. Goodwin will be Monday, July 7, 2014, 10:00 a.m., at Chapel of Hope, Hobbs, New Mexico. Interment will follow at Prairie Haven Memorial Park, Hobbs, New Mexico.
