Mr. Capps, 79, died Feb. 27, 2007, at his home in Hobbs, N.M. He was born Sept. 28, 1927, in Vernon, Texas. He married Faye Biggs on May 1, 1954, in Eldorado, Texas.
Gene moved to Hobbs, N.M., in 1954. In 1979 he started Lea Co. Packer Sales Inc., which his family operates today. Gene was a very loving man who enjoyed people. He never met a stranger. Gene especially loved his God, his wife, his children and granddaughters. Gene was a faithful member of the First Christian Church since 1954. He enjoyed spending time with his granddaughters, painting with the Flying Brush Gang and fishing. He always knew where to find the fish.
Survivors include his wife, Faye Capps of the home; two sons, Scott Capps and wife Ann of Hobbs, N.M., and Quinn Capps and wife Polly of Hobbs, N.M.; and two granddaughters, Madison and Olivia Capps of Hobbs, N.M.
The Capps family would like to thank everyone who cared for them during Gene's illness. The prayers, cards, thoughts of the family or any kind acts are greatly appreciated.
