Gary Wheeler

Gary E. Wheeler, 48, was born October 11, 1965 to Mervin and Deloris Wheeler, in Hobbs, New Mexico. Mr. Wheeler passed away March 7, 2014 in Hobbs. Mr. Wheeler worked in the oilfield as a driller. He was an accomplished builder of oil rigs in Cairo, Egypt and Saudi Arabia. Gary rode motorcycles. He loved the outdoors. He was always known for helping the underdog. Mr. Wheelers nickname was Wheeldog.

Gary is survived by son Hunter Derringer Wheeler of Ballinger, Texas, grandmother Mabel Brown, of Hobbs mother Deloris Gilmore, of Hobbs Stepfather Maxie L. Gilmore of Hobbs sister Misty D. Emig of Alamogordo, New Mexico brother J.D. Oliver, of Hobbs nephew Billy W. Rodgers, of Hobbs nephew Dylan Davenport of Alamogordo niece Rainie Skye Shaw of Alamogordo and niece Jordan Jade Oliver of Hobbs.

Gary was preceded in death by sister Tammy Renee Rodgers, and grandfather, J.L.E.Brown.

Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m., Tuesday, March 11, 2014 at Chapel of Hope Funeral Home, officiated by Pastor Benny Greenlee. Interment will follow at Prairie Haven Memorial Park, Hobbs, New Mexico.
