Funeral services for Gail Fletcher Underhill will be 11:00 a.m. Saturday, November 20, 2010, at Chapel of Hope, officiated by Rev. Steve Whittaker, Rev. Ken Yoakum and Rev. Jaron Graham. Interment will be at Prairie Haven Cemetery. Visitation will be Friday 4:00 p.m. 7:30 p.m. with the family being in attendance from 5:30 7:30 p.m. and Saturday from 8 a.m. until service time at Chapel of Hope, which is in charge of arrangements.
Mrs,. Underhill died November 17, 2010, at the Lubbock Heart Hospital, in Lubbock, Texas. She was born to James and Gladys Hale May 28, 1929, in Rodessa, Louisiana.
Gail was a nurses aide for several local health agencies and covered all of Lea County. She did private home health care until her 80th birthday. She loved her special extended family, loved her church and her church family. She was a giver. She married Don Underhill in Athens, Texas, on September 3, 2005. Gail was a member of the First Church of the Nazarene in Lovington.
She is survived by her husband, Don Underhill of Lovington a son, Clarence Fletcher and wife Donna, of Hobbs a daughter, Shirley Whittaker and husband Steve, of Athens, Texas a stepdaughter, Frankie Bessinger and husband Don of Weatherford, Texas 6 grandchildren, Brandi Godwin, Clay Fletcher, Amber Oliver, Nichole Whittaker, Ashley Whittaker and Nikki Ivey 3 greatgrandchildren, Elizabeth, Morgan and James Godwin 3 brothers, D. K. Hale and Melvin Hale, both of Odessa, Texas, and Bobby Hale of Bloomburg, Texas one sister Laverne Martin of Rodessa, Louisiana, and numerous nephews and nieces. Gail was preceded in death by a daughter, Karen Sue Fletcher, husband C. E. Fletcher, and a brother, Jake Hale.
